Louis Comfort Tiffany

Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933) was born today, February 18th.

Most known for his unique Art Nouveau stained glass windows and lamps, Tiffany also designed jewelry, ceramics, and mosaics. The Brown Memorial Presbyterian church in the Bolton Hill neighborhood here in Baltimore features 12 Tiffany windows which were restored a few years ago. Louis’s Dad, Charles Lewis Tiffany, was the founder of the Tiffany & Co., the jewelry company. In his day, some of Louis’s jewelry designs were sold at Tiffany & Co. If you ask me, they are a lot more interesting than any of the mainstream jewelry sold there today.

As always, signed prints are available- $10 for 8.5″ x 11″, $30 for 11″ x 17″.

  1. Oh that’s lovely! I have noted on occasion that the only things I’ve ever liked from Tiffany’s were created by the two artists who had the surname, and I’m rather obsessed with his glass work. SHINY!
