Valentine’s Day approaches!

This year’s Valentine’s Day deadline is February 5th.
If you’re located outside of the US, I recommend getting your order in ASAP so it can be shipped out soon. I can’t provide any guarantees about international shipping times.

Below, you’ll find a review of some of the portrait options I have listed on my website, as well as a $5 holiday special. Everything is mostly the same as it was for Christmas this year, except I’ve had to update my shipping prices a bit to reflect new information I received from USPS.

$5 PORTRAIT SPECIAL

(click thumbnails for larger images)

*$5 for any photograph.
*Based on your provided photograph of people, pets, houses, vehicles, etc.
*4″ x 6″ quick black and white drawing in pen & ink and graphite on heavy weight paper.
*Style is somewhat realistic, but expressive and energetic. These aren’t caricatures, but they’re a bit exaggerated and funky.
*This is a one shot deal- there’s no sketch/approval process. You pay $5 and get my interpretation of your photo. If you want more control over the process, or are looking for something more traditional, take a look at the watercolor options under the cut.
*A single color highlight can be added to the black and white drawing for no extra cost.
*A name or short message can be added in hand lettering for no extra cost.

*$60 for first subject (individual person or animal), + $15 for each additional subject in the same painting. Houses, vehicles, and scenery count as one subject unless especially intricate.
*Based on your provided photograph of people, pets, houses, vehicles, etc.
*9″ x 12″ watercolor portrait on high quality cold press watercolor paper.
*Style is realistic and fairly traditional, although my watercolors tend to be looser and more spirited than some you may have seen. The look is a lot softer than the color marker portrait.

Ordering/Payment instructions
*Contact me at joanna at joannabarnum dot com with your photographs, to confirm the total for your order and the suitability of the photos you want to work with. Please mention this blog entry, as it’s helpful for me to know where customers are coming from.
*Once your total has been confirmed, send payment to the same address via Paypal. I cannot begin your portraits until I’ve received payment/deposit. Payment in full is required for any orders of $20 or less. For larger orders, you have the option of making a 50% deposit, with the balance due upon digital preview of your portraits.
*If you need to pay via check or money order, contact me for my mailing address. If you’re using this option, you may want to pay in full so that shipment of your completed portrait is not delayed.
*Shipping for any number of $5 portraits to any location is $1. Shipping for any number of other portraits to any location is $5- this covers priority flat rate mail for US customers, or international first class mail for international. I recently made this switch so that I can afford to use heavier packaging to protect portraits in the mail. While I’ve had no problems with damage, I was recently informed that new USPS regulations could lead to insurance claims being denied due to my previous packaging not being durable enough by their standards.
*Shipping for prints *only* is $2 for small prints and cards and $3 for large prints.
*(Optional) insurance is a flat $2 (I will cover the difference if the cost is higher for your particular order) and tracking is $1. Tracking is not available for international packages, sorry.
*I ship via USPS. $5 portraits are mailed in business sized envelopes. All other portraits and small prints are packed with a rigid backing and an interior waterproof sleeve. Large prints are rolled in a mailing tube.

Legal stuff
*You are only purchasing the original artwork, not the copyright to it. You may not use your portrait for commercial purposes without making arrangements with me to do so. I don’t mind if you want to post it on your personal website, facebook, blog, etc. but a link to my website (http://www.joannabarnum.com) would be nice.
*Completed portraits may be posted here or on my website, and/or used for other self promotional purposes. If you want me to wait to post the portrait online until after the holidays because you’re worried the recipient might see it, please let me know.
*By sending me a photo to work from, you signify that you either own the copyright to the photo, or have permission from the copyright owner to use it in this manner.
*Sales tax is owed for any orders being shipped to Maryland, but Maryland law says I can pay the sales tax on it myself, which I’ll be doing because it’s just easier that way.

Kudos! ^_^ What kind of markers do you use? Ive never seen anything w/such pretty colors. πŸ™‚
