Maryland My Maryland t-shirts!

Speaking of Kickstarter, I’ve just launched my own pre-order for screen printed t-shirts with a version of my “Maryland My Maryland” illustration.

I used this system to facilitate a pre-order of the last batch of my Charles Darwin t-shirts, and it seemed to work really well for everyone involved.

Pledging to this Kickstarter is the ONLY way to get one of these shirts- I probably won’t be ordering any extras beyond what is funded through the Kickstarter. If you REALLY, REALLY don’t want to use Kickstarter, let me know, and I might be able to add an extra shirt to my final order for you, but that will only work if the Kickstarter campaign is successfully funded. If it’s not, there won’t be a run of shirts (Kickstarter only charges backers if the project goal is successfully met).

The shirt will be printed in 3 colors on a black Gildan “soft style” t-shirt. I’ve used these base shirts for other projects and they’re really soft and nice. You can also order a zip up hoodie with the design on the back!

Go check it out! You have until November 1st to order. Shirts will be printed and shipped in time for holiday gift giving.

Maryland My Maryland, again

Most of the work from this series will be going up at Charmington’s (2601 Howard St., Baltimore, MD) tonight! If you didn’t get a chance to see it when it was at Truax Custom Frames, stop by and take a look, and have some great local coffee while you’re at it.

The work is also now all matted and FRAMED, if having to frame the work yourself was dissuading you from a purchase. The black frames really make the work pop!

The show will probably be up at Charmington’s for the next month or so. We haven’t set a formal close date yet.

Also, all small (8.5″ x 11″) print orders from the series are currently on sale for $8 (normally 10 or 3/$35). I have a large stock of prints I made for the Cromwell festival, which was mostly rained out, and I’d like to move some of them out of here! E-mail me at joanna@joannabarnum.com if you’d like to order some prints.

Other prints are still available for the usual prices.

Mini: 4″ x 6″- $5, or 4/$17 (glossy only)
Small: 8.5″ x 11″- ON SALE, $8 (sale prints are in matte only)
Large: 11″ x 17″- $30, or 4/$100 (glossy only)
Jumbo: 13″ x 19″- $40, or 4/$140 (glossy or matte)
(Plus shipping)

Hampton National Historic Site paintings/Facebook

Earlier this year, I participated in a one day show/competition at the Hampton National Historic Site in Towson, MD. The Hampton Arts Initiative has put up a website including some of the pieces from the show that are still available.

There is some great work here to look at or buy, including my watercolors from the show.

Also, did you know that I have a Facebook fan page for my portrait work? If you’re on Facebook, you can “like” my page and receive updates in your newsfeed. https://www.facebook.com/JoannaBarnumPortraits

Next week (once I recover from some major dental work I’m about to have), I’ll be announcing a big print sale, so you may want to get your wallets ready for some early holiday shopping. My husband brought home many, many spare mailing tubes from his office…so many, in fact, that I don’t know where to put them. So it’s the “too many darn mailing tubes in my house” print sale. Stay tuned!

Maryland My Maryland, in full:

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the “Maryland My Maryland” opening at TruAx Custom Frames last week.

The show is still up if you haven’t had a chance to check it out, with all originals available for purchase. (If you’d like to peruse a price list before visiting the gallery, just let me know, and I’ll send you a copy)

If you’d like to purchase prints or note cards, you can also get those at TruAx, or you can order them from me directly. I can ship them anywhere.

Many of you have asked me about ordering larger prints in a matte finish, and I’m pleased to say that I was finally able to find quality coated matte paper in 13″ x 19″.

Note cards: $10/set of 4. You may order any combination of images in a set.
Mini: 4″ x 6″- $5, or 4/$17 (glossy only)

You can browse the entire series below, or at my website.

Maryland My Maryland opening in Baltimore

Later this month, I’ll be showing my Maryland My Maryland series (at times referred to as the “Marylandia” series) at TruAx Custom Frames in Baltimore.

Please join me for the opening, if you can:

Maryland My Maryland: A Hometown Celebration, Illustrations by Joanna Barnum
Opening: Friday, June 22, 6-8pm
TruAx Custom Frames
4711 1/2 B Harford Rd.
Baltimore, MD 21234

Most pieces will be presented casually as unframed originals, with framing available by TruAx Custom Frames. There will also be affordable prints and note cards available through the gallery.

(If you’re not local, you can still contact me directly to purchase prints or note cards of this series)

Parking at the gallery is street or side street parking. TruAx is in the Hamilton-Lauraville neighborhood of Baltimore. Consider also checking out one of the wonderful nearby restaurants. A couple of my favorites are Clementine and Hamilton Tavern.

More Maryland paintings

I’ve finished up a few more paintings in the “Maryland My Maryland” series of illustrations.

FYI, I’ll be leaving home on a road trip soon, so if you don’t order in the next week, you may need to wait until June. However, I WILL have e-mail access throughout the trip, so if you drop me a line and I’m not available to send out new orders at that time, I will definitely respond to let you know.

Maryland Wine Festival poster

I put this together for the Maryland Wine Festival poster competition. I didn’t win, but I did receive an honorable mention and two passes to the festival, so that should be fun.

I did the illustration in the same style I’ve been working in for the “Marylandia” series illustrations, and it’s about Maryland wineries, so I’ll probably display it as part of that series when it comes time to exhibit it. The text on the poster is hand lettered, but the layout was assembled in Photoshop, so the original painting of the wreath and wineglass is without text.

Marylandia

This started out as an effort to make a little something for my friends who are Baltimore Ravens fans without infringing on any of the team’s copyrights, but then it demanded to go off on all kinds of tangents. There are more coming. I’m having a LOT of fun making these.

Originals are all currently being saved for a local gallery show, but will be available for sale soon. Originals are the full color versions, but you can order prints and cards in black and white linework OR color.
